I remember back when we displayed food on trays, mirrors and cutting boards. We would comment that the design in the middle of the tray or board was only seen by the chef and the kitchen staff. The food always covered the artwork. This is why I design the boards with the artwork in the corner of the boards.
Our standard wood are “hardwoods” which are best for Charcuterie/Dessert displays.
